A clean, white interior can be very boring. The secret to making a light yet warm interior is mixing textures. In other words: combining different materials and textures with similar color tones. In case of large white surfaces, use different gloss grades: matte, satin and high gloss. Mix coarse knitwork with fine textiles, frosted glass with clear glass, brushed metals with polished metals, end grain wood with quarter-sawn wood etc. The combinations of materials and their textures enrich an interior and bring a contemporary space to life.
