Hilt is the name of the wooden cross bar at the top end of spade handles. In this side table it functions as a way to easily lift the table and move it around to anywhere you need it: by your bed, your couch, your chair. The obvious reference to tool handles makes you want to carry it intuitively. The ash wood makes for a warm and pleasant feel. The round top is made of beech plywood, finished with a water-based paint. The bent stainless steel strip brings the table in balance with the steam-bent central leg. The table will stand firmly since it touches the ground at three places.
